In an exclusive conversation with Telly Talk India, Erica opened up about what made her instantly say yes to the project and why the combination of medicine and the armed forces appealed to her. Gashmeer, too, revealed that he had little reason to hesitate when the opportunity came his way. With the show set to premiere on Independence Day, August 15, the actors are now ready for a new chapter.
Erica Fernandes on why she said yes to 108 Base Hospital – Uri
After a five-year break from television, Erica Fernandes is returning to the small screen with 108 Base Hospital – Uri. Interestingly, the actress revealed that she did not need much time to decide whether she wanted to be part of the army-medical drama. The combination of two distinct worlds immediately caught her attention, making the decision an easy one.
Speaking about her first reaction to the project, exclusively told Telly Talk India, “First, I got the synopsis and then I had a meeting with Samar sir and this briefing took place. And the moment he said that it’s medical, combined with army, I said, I’m doing it.”
The actress also revealed that her personal interest in medical shows played a role in her decision. “Because I like medical shows anyway, I watch a lot. And then combined with army, uniform has a different feel,” she shared. For Erica, getting the opportunity to step into an army uniform was also part of the appeal. “I think every actor wants to be in uniform at least once,” she added.
With her comeback bringing her into a medical and military setting, Erica appears to be taking on a role that offers a very different experience from her previous television outings.
Gashmeer Mahajani on 108 Base Hospital – Uri
While Erica Fernandes was instantly drawn to the medical-meets-army concept, Gashmeer Mahajani revealed that he too did not take much time to come on board. For the actor, the opportunity aligned with his approach of choosing projects that allow him to explore different kinds of stories and characters.
Speaking about his decision to join 108 Base Hospital – Uri, Gashmeer said, “There was no scope to think, I just said yes. We met and the rest is history.” The actor also opened up about his approach to selecting shows, explaining that he prefers to keep experimenting rather than simply choosing projects for the security they offer. “I try to experiment on different shows. That is my math,” he said.
Gashmeer acknowledged that every actor may have a different way of approaching their career. “Some other actor’s math is that, my two years of work is over and now I have security. That is also not wrong. That is also right in its place,” he explained. For Gashmeer, however, experimentation remains an important part of his choices. “This is my math. This show is better in that,” he added, hinting at what made the upcoming series stand out to him.
Meanwhile, 108 Base Hospital – Uri is an upcoming Indian military-medical drama set to premiere on Independence Day, August 15, 2026. The series will air every Saturday and Sunday at 8 PM on COLORS and stream digitally on JioHotstar.
