EPFO: It is necessary to link Aadhaar with PF account, if not done then this loss will happen

The purpose of linking Aadhaar with UAN (Universal Account Number) is that the facilities related to PF should be directly found by employees, without employer. If the member’s base is verified from UIDAI, he can update his own profile itself, but whose Aadhaar has not yet been linked or verified, they have to get approval from the employer or EPFO for change.

EPFO started this facility from 13 August 2025

If the names, gender and date of birth recorded in the UAN are absolutely matching the information recorded in the base, then the member can go to his employer and link Aadhaar to the UAN. For this, the KYC feature available on the employer’s portal will be used and separate approval from the EPFO will not be required. Previously, there was a difference in the name, gender or date of birth, many level approval and a lot of paperwork had to go through a lot of differences.

What is UAN?

UAN is a 12 -digit unique number, which gives EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organization). This number remains the same on changing the job.

Joint Declaration for Aadhaar update (JD)

EPFO has now made the JD process easier to change the information related to Aadhaar. Now, whose Aadhaar link is not link, or whose Aadhaar is to be updated, they can do this through a new simple process. If there is a difference in name, gender or date of birth in Aadhaar and UAN, then the employer can request for change through JD form.

Improving the incorrect base

If the wrong base is mistaken with UAN, then the employer can fill the correct Aadhaar number in JD form and send it online, which the officers will approve.

Closed company or employer is unavailable

If the employer is not available or the company is closed, the member can submit a physical JD form at the Pro counter of the concerned EPFO Regional Office. It is necessary to sign an authorized person on this form. After investigation, Pro will put it in the request system.
