The Army foiled an infiltration attempt and killed two terrorists in the Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir – but the question is, was this just an encounter or the beginning of a big terrorist plan from across the border? Is Kashmir going to burn again?
Kupwara Encounter: Once again big news related to terrorism has come out from Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces have killed two terrorists in Keran sector. This encounter started when the Indian Army received information from intelligence agencies about an attempt to intrude on the LoC. According to the information, the terrorists tried to enter the Indian border in the dark of night, but alert soldiers stopped them. Both the terrorists were killed in retaliation. The Army has named this operation “Operation Pimple”.
Are terrorist networks becoming active again from across the border?
According to Chinar Corps, the joint operation was started on the basis of specific intelligence received on Friday (7 November 2025). Army soldiers noticed suspicious activity and challenged the terrorists. During this, the terrorists started firing indiscriminately, in response to which the Indian Army retaliated. The terrorists were killed within some time. According to security agencies, this encounter may point towards a new module of infiltrators sent by Pakistan. In the last few months, infiltration attempts by terrorists have increased in Kupwara, Keran and Baramulla sectors.
How did “Operation Pimple” go?
According to the Army spokesperson, the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies worked together in this entire operation.
- Suspicious activity was observed around 11 pm
- Soldiers immediately surrounded the area
- Terrorists started firing, army retaliated
- Two terrorists killed in encounter
- Search operation is going on in the area.
- The encounter took place in the most sensitive strip along the LoC, which is known for frequent infiltration attempts.
Is this the beginning of a new infiltration wave?
According to experts, before winter, Pakistan’s efforts to send terrorists across the border intensify. Last month, on October 14, two terrorists were killed in the same sector. This is a clear indication that continuous efforts are going on from Pakistan’s side.
What is the importance of LoC?
- There is a total of 740 km long Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, while the International Border is about 240 km long.
- LoC: Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora and parts of Jammu
- IB: Spread over Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts
- This is the same area where incidents of infiltration and firing often occur.
Kupwara encounter proves that Pakistan sponsored terrorism is still not completely ended in Jammu and Kashmir. The alertness and swift action taken by the Army has once again given a strong message to the security of the country that any infiltration into India’s borders will not be tolerated.
