Emraan Hashmi and Himesh Reshammiya are reuniting after nearly two decades for Gunmaaster G9. Their earlier collaborations Aashiq Banaya Aapne and Aksar created memorable musical moments in the 2000s. The reunion arrives after Hashmi’s recent Awarapan 2 crossed ₹200 crore worldwide, marking a major box office resurgence.
Aashiq Banaya Aapne, released in 2005, became particularly significant for Himesh as a composer and singer, with tracks such as Aashiq Banaya Aapne and Aap Ki Kashish becoming popular. Their new collaboration brings back that musical nostalgia while placing Hashmi in a completely different action oriented setting.
Gunmaaster G9 stars Emraan Hashmi, Genelia Deshmukh and Aparshakti Khurana, with Aditya Datt directing and Himesh Reshammiya composing the music. Hashmi plays Eshwar, a character skilled with firearms, while the “G9” refers to the Glock 9 associated with him. The title has no direct connection to Mithun Chakraborty’s earlier Gunmaster G9 character.
The film combines stylised action, romance, drama and music, with Datt deliberately exploring a side of Hashmi beyond his familiar romantic image. The director has said he wanted to create something new with the actor. Genelia and Hashmi headline the film, while the latest promotional material has renewed interest in their chemistry and Himesh’s music.
