Employee defrauded startup company of Rs 2 lakh in 7 days of employment, then resigned!

A very shocking case has come to light in ‘Gali Labs’, a famous footwear startup of Delhi. People often celebrate after getting a job, but here a new employee has made a plan to bankrupt the company. In the very first week of his job, this person played with the system so much that the company suffered a huge loss of Rs 2 lakh overnight.

The greed for free shoes was such that the system itself was hacked.

Startup co-founder Arjun Singh himself has revealed this shocking incident. He told that the new employee who was given the responsibility of handling the computer system with great confidence, misused the backend. He secretly created special promo codes through which one could get 100% discount on the purchase of expensive shoes.

Using these free coupons, he quickly ordered expensive sneakers for his acquaintances. Within just a few days, this employee gave a direct fine of about two lakh rupees to the company. He resigned within just seven days of committing this big scam.

Gave legal threat to the company if caught stealing

When the owners of the company got wind of this misappropriation, they immediately contacted the former employee. In the beginning, he pretended to cooperate while admitting his mistake. He even returned some of the shoes, but by then more than half of the expensive shoes had been used or distributed by him to others.

The matter became worse when the company made strict demands for the remaining shoes and money. In response to this, the accused started sending legal notices to the startup itself. He falsely accused the management of mental harassment. What was just a theft case has now turned into a serious and lengthy legal battle.

Big lesson for startups, now the system has become stricter

After this huge loss and fraud, ‘Gully Labs’ has completely changed its security system. Now the rules for accessing the discount system and order management have been made very strict so that no other employee can dare to do this in future. This incident is an eye opener for fast growing companies.

This incident is now being discussed a lot on social media platform X. Well-known entrepreneur Akshay Jain also said that as business grows, companies should keep a very close eye on their data. Many people compared this incident to the old e-commerce site ‘Jabong’, which similarly suffered huge financial losses due to misuse of discount codes by employees.
