Investigation revealed that he was struggling with career failure and family pressure. Software engineer Bhanu Chander Reddy was found hanging in his apartment. Shortly after seeing his dead body, his wife Shazia committed suicide by jumping from the 17th floor of the building.

Career difficulties and job loss

According to police sources, Reddy earlier worked in America and his annual salary was around Rs 1 crore. But with the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI), there were major changes in his company and he lost his job. After this he remained unemployed for about a year and tried hard to find a job. According to a report in India Today, due to changes in the policies of America, it became difficult for him to get another job there. Later Reddy also went to Canada, but he did not get any work there either. Eventually, he had to return to India.

After returning to India, both of them tried to restart their lives. Shazia, who was earlier working in Hyderabad, left her job and later joined IBM. He shifted to Bengaluru and it seemed that his life was getting back on track. But, police said that Reddy was suffering from depression and was also on medication. Investigators believe his mental condition may have played a large role in this decision.

Kept the relationship hidden from the family

Both knew each other since childhood and later fell in love. They also got married, but it was an interfaith marriage, so they kept it a secret for fear of the family’s reaction. When Reddy told his mother about the marriage, she stopped talking to him. This deeply shocked him and his distance from his family increased further. Shazia also did not tell her family about the marriage. It is said that her father is a very influential person, due to which she was even more nervous to tell the truth.

On the day of the incident, Shazia saw her husband’s dead body and informed the authorities. Before taking this dreadful step, he tried calling his mother twice, but got no response. After this he sent a message apologizing and told that he had got married without informing him. His mother is not very educated, so she could not understand the message completely and could not tell anyone else about it.

Suicide note and emotional ending

Police said that Reddy had also left a suicide note. In this he expressed regret for creating trouble and wrote that he could not fulfill his responsibilities towards his wife. He also wrote that he was sad that he could not openly introduce his wife to his family. When the police informed both the families of the deaths, they were shocked. The bodies of both were taken in the same ambulance for the last rites. Initially, some family members objected to this, but later they agreed. It is said that someone consoled them by saying that ‘if they could not be together in life, then at least they should be allowed to be together in death’.
