According to airport sources, the aircraft circled in the sky for about an hour before soft landing at around 3.30 pm.
The plane kept flying in the sky for an hour to empty the fuel
According to reports, Air India Express flight number IXO61 was scheduled to depart from Trichy airport at 12.45 pm as per the flight schedule. But, the departure of the flight was delayed and the aircraft was able to take off at 1.55 pm. There were 160 passengers on board this aircraft. Shortly after takeoff, the flight crew noticed some technical problems with the aircraft. For about an hour, the flight kept circling in the air space of Trichy and Pudukottai to empty the fuel. Later an emergency landing had to be made in Trichy.
Emergency landing took place at 3:53 pm
Relatives of former Nagapattinam MLA Tamim Ansari told him that due to a technical glitch in the flight, the plane kept circling. Air India Express flight made emergency landing at Trichy airport at 3.53 pm. The aircraft that had the problem is a narrow body Boeing 738 aircraft.
