Double Decker Bus: Double decker buses are going to hit the streets once again in Delhi. The Delhi government is now going to start double decker electric buses. The government plans to run a total of 100 double decker buses in the capital. By 1985-86, a large number of double-decker buses were seen on the roads of Delhi, but they were discontinued due to increase in traffic and road structure. Now these buses starting again after nearly four decades will be completely electric and will be completely different from the old design. Their look is like modern luxury buses and will be completely air -conditioned.

63 passengers will get seating facility

A total of 1,500 electric buses are to be given to Delhi in collaboration with the Convergence Energy Services Limited, including 100 double deckers. The first double decker bus has reached Delhi and is currently kept at Tehkhand depot. The process of running it is being completed. A total of 63 passengers will get seating facility in these buses. Once again the double decker buses ready to see the beauty of the buses

Delhi Transport Corporation will start these buses as a pilot project. Soon their trial run will start on select routes and after that the government will make an official announcement. According to sources, the fare of these buses can be kept as normal AC buses. However, the height of these buses can become a major challenge. Low branches of trees, hanging electric wires and flyovers can obstruct their path. For this reason, DTC officials are studying routes where a safe corridor can be prepared for these buses. Significantly, in the 1970s and 1980s, double decker buses were very popular in Delhi under the convenience service, but they were completely closed by 1985-86 due to increasing traffic and road structure. Now after a long time, the roads of the capital are ready to see the beauty of double decker buses once again.
