The Election Commission has directed the transfer of officials by 6 October for the Bihar elections. For fairness, deployment in home district and tenure of more than 3 years is banned. This can then announce the election.
Patna: Preparations for Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 have now reached the final phase. The Election Commission has given a clear indication to the state government and administrative departments that the election sound is just a few days away. The Commission has issued instructions that by October 6, the process of transfer of all government officials and personnel will have to be completed and submitted the report. After this, a formal announcement of Bihar assembly elections can be made on any day.
Ban on posting in home district
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vinod Singh Gunjial on Wednesday sent a letter to the Chief Secretary, DGP and all senior officials and made it clear that no officer-personnel associated with the election would be posted in his home district. Apart from this, transfer of officers whose tenure is being completed three years or more by November 30 has been made mandatory.
Which officers will apply to the order?
This order of the Commission will not be limited to the electoral staff only, but will apply to the entire administration and police departments.
- Administrative staff: Block Development Officer (BDO), Tehsildar, Municipal Commissioner, Divisional Commissioner, Additional Collector.
- Police Department: From ADG, IG to Inspector posted in districts.
- Rebate: Police personnel associated with computerization, special branch and training have been excluded from this order. At the same time, officers will be transferred at the same place for more than three years in the Department of Products and Alcohol.
Focus on fair election
The Election Commission clearly says that priority is to conduct fair and transparent elections in Bihar. Therefore, no officer will be allowed to stay in the same post for a long time or stay in the home district. The Commission has also indicated that the team of the Commission under the leadership of the Chief Election Commissioner may soon visit Bihar.
Electoral winds fast
Following this strict instructions, there has been a stir in the administrative and police department of the state. At the same time, political parties have also become fully active in electoral mode. As soon as the deadline of October 6 is completed, the electoral bugle can ring in the state anytime and all the parties will get their strength in the field.
