As she reflected on her childhood, Mahhi recalled how her father ensured that she never felt the limitations of life despite earning a modest salary. From studying in good schools to being treated to her favourite hot chocolate fudge after school, he always made sure his daughter felt special. Sharing one such memory, Mahhi said, “Kaami matlab koi kami nahi. Humein best se best jagah par leke jaate the. Kaafi kam salary thi aur phir bhi humein bahut acche school mein daala tha. Mujhe kabhi aisa laga nahi. School se aate waqt Delhi mein Nirula’s karke ek jagah hai, mujhe wahan hot chocolate fudge khilane leke jaate the.”
One of the most touching moments came when Mahhi revealed the story behind gifting her father a Rolex watch. Remembering a dream he had casually mentioned years ago, she shared, “Mujhe yaad hai papa ko ghadi ka itna shauk hai. Aisa nahi hai jaisa unhone bola, very kind of him, lekin kabhi aisa bola nahi. Lekin ek din aise hi bola tha ki ek din main Rolex pehnunga. Aur jab main Dubai gayi thi, tab pehla mera trip tha jab maine apne liye kuch nahi kharida. Maine bahut paise jama kiye the. Maine socha bhi nahi kuch. Mere friends ne bola ki ek baar soch le, ghadi par itna. Maine bola nahi, mujhe papa ko Rolex pehnani hai.”
During her heartfelt conversation with Rajeev Khandelwal, Mahhi also revealed that long before she became an actress, her father had dreamt of becoming one himself. Having once received opportunities in films, fate had other plans for him. Yet, his love for cinema never faded. Growing up, Mahhi would often accompany him to movies at Delhi’s Regal cinema, where he worked, unknowingly nurturing a dream that would eventually become her reality.
Recalling those memories, she said, “I think hum bachpan mein movies dekhne jaate the. Har weekend ek movie dekhne jaate the. I think wahin se mera yeh tha ki my father is working there, ki one day really woh bade parde par mujhe dekhenge. Lekin main utne bade parde par toh nahi pahunch paayi, haan lekin pahunch gayi jahan mujhe pahunchna chahiye tha life mein.”
In a deeply moving moment, Mahhi’s father proudly reflected on his daughter’s journey and how she achieved success on her own merit. He shared, “Mere jo chacha ne meri sifarish ki thi, unhone kaha ki tu toh kuch nahi kar paya lekin teri beti ne kar dikhaya. Maine phir unhe kaha, main kyun nahi ban paya? Kyunki mere upar sifarish thi, lekin woh bina sifarish ke gayi hai.”
