The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has issued such an order, due to which there is a stir among the grocery shopkeepers from village to city and in every street. In this order of the state government, it is clearly written that now every egg will have its ‘date of birth’ and ‘end date’ marked on it. That means the shopkeeper will have to write its expiry date.

Actually, the administration has issued this order on the instructions of the Animal Husbandry Department and Food Safety Department of Uttar Pradesh. According to the order, now every shopkeeper in the entire state is required to stamp the production date (lead date) and expiry date on every egg from April 1. So that the customer himself can understand how old this egg is by looking at the date. If any seller does not do this then legal action will be taken against him. Along with this, all his eggs will be confiscated.

Why did the UP government have to take this decision?

This step of the Uttar Pradesh government is being considered a big step regarding the purity of food and drink. The Chief Veterinary Officer said that many times the department has received complaints that old eggs were being sold at many places and the customers were not even aware of it. Because eggs are directly related to human health. Therefore such an order had to be issued.

How many days are eggs good for?

Food department officials say that eggs remain safe for only 2 weeks at normal temperature i.e. 30 degrees Celsius. If the eggs are kept at a lower temperature than this (2 to 8 degrees Celsius), then nothing happens to these eggs even for 5 weeks. But it is often seen that shopkeepers do not use any kind of cold storage to keep these eggs. But now after this order this will not happen.
