HEALTH ALERT: Can earwax reveal the secret of cancer? A surprising claim came out in a Brazilian study – Earwax Test can detect cancer and pre-cancer stage without pain, at less cost and with more accuracy. Surprising results have come in 751 samples.
Non Invasive Cancer Test: Till now, complex and expensive tests like blood, biopsy and scan have been done to identify cancer. But now Brazilian scientists have discovered a method which neither causes pain, nor requires surgery nor costs much. According to this new research, earwax can also indicate serious diseases hidden in the body, especially cancer. This shocking study has been done by Brazil’s Federal University of Goias (UFG). This research has been named “Cerumenogram” and it has also received Honorable Mention in the CAPS Award of 2025.

After all, how did earwax become a health fingerprint?
Researchers say that when our body is completely healthy, the chemical composition of earwax remains the same. But as soon as any serious disease starts developing in the body, especially cancer, the chemical profile of this filth starts changing. According to study coordinator Nelson Antoniosi Filho, “Today earwax has become the fingerprint of our health.” That means, clues about what is going on inside the body can now be found from earwax also.
Is this test really that accurate?
Under this research, samples of 751 people were taken.
- 531 people were already being treated for cancer – the test correctly identified cancer in all.
- There were 220 people who were not diagnosed with any disease – only 5 of these people’s samples turned out to be suspicious, and all of them were later confirmed to have cancer in conventional tests.
- This is the reason why this test is considered very accurate and reliable.
Can this test detect pre-cancer stage also?
In 2025, scientists made another major breakthrough. Research has revealed that this test can also identify the pre-cancer stage. This means-
- Treatment possible before the disease starts
- Less painful and easier treatment
- More chances of survival of the patient
Will this test reach the common people?
Currently, this test is not available for free in the Brazilian public health system due to regulatory processes. But it is expected that soon it will be started in private hospitals and public educational institutions.
