Sankashti Chaturthi 2026: In Hindu religion, Lord Ganesha is considered the first worshiper and remover of obstacles. Any auspicious work starts with the worship of Lord Ganesha. According to the Panchang, the fast of Dwijapriya Sankashti Chaturthi will be observed on Thursday, 5 February 2026. This time being Thursday, this fast has become even more fruitful, because Thursday is the day of Lord Vishnu and Lord Ganesha is his favorite. Light lamps at these places in the evening
- Main Gate: Light lamps on both sides of the main door of the house. It blocks negative energy and brings happiness in the house.
- Pooja Ghar: Light a ghee lamp in front of Bappa and put a clove in it. This removes Vaastu defects of the house.
- kitchen : Lighting a lamp near the drinking water point in the kitchen is considered auspicious. This makes the ancestors happy and there is no shortage of food and money.
- Basil plant: Make sure to light a lamp in the Tulsi bed in the evening. This pleases Goddess Lakshmi and love remains in the family.
- Peepal or Shami tree: If there is a Peepal or Shami tree near the house, then donate a lamp there. This reduces the inauspicious effects of the planets.
How to worship on the day of Sankashti Chaturthi?
After taking bath in the morning, take a pledge to fast. In the evening, place the idol of Lord Ganesha on a red cloth. Offer them Durva, Modak and red flowers. After moonrise, break the fast by offering milk and water to the moon. Charity also has special significance on this day. Donate sesame or jaggery to the needy as per your capacity.
