Kolkata Rain: Life was badly affected by torrential rains in Kolkata and surrounding areas on Tuesday night. Five people died in the city due to heavy rains. A holiday has also been declared in many schools due to water logging and rain.
Kolkata Rain: Today is the second day of Sharadiya Navratri and the arrival of Maa Durga has put the color of devotion in the whole atmosphere. But heavy rains in Kolkata have disturbed life. Five people have died due to rain and floods. The city roads are flooded, which has also affected rail and metro services. Water has also entered many houses. The Meteorological Department has warned that due to low pressure made in the Bay of Bengal, many districts of South Bengal may receive even more heavy rains.
Life affected by torrential rain
Torrential rains in Kolkata and surrounding areas on Tuesday night affected life completely. Five people have died in the city due to heavy rains. Flood -like conditions have been created on the roads. Rail-Metro services have also been disrupted. Water has entered many houses and living areas, causing people to face difficulties. Services between great superstars Uttam Kumar and Ravindra Sarovar stations have been stopped due to water filling in the blue line of Kolkata Metro. The metro spokesperson said that services between Shaheed Khudiram and Maidan stations are closed for the safety of passengers, while limited services from Dakshineshwar to the ground. General services are expected to be restored soon.

Train operations completely closed
According to media reports, the operation of trains is completely closed due to water filling on the track in Sealdah South section. Only limited trains are operating in sealdah north and main segments. Trains are affected by Howrah and Kolkata terminal stations and trains are also stopped on the circular railway line due to water logging in Chitpur yard. The heavy water logging on the city roads has stalled the traffic. Officers are facing problems due to lack of public transport and traffic jam. Many schools have declared a holiday due to rain and water logging.
