The collaboration will explore the use of AI-powered video technology to help players better understand their skill levels, improve more efficiently, and enter the sport with greater confidence, while maintaining DUPR as the sport’s official rating system.

Mike Arney, Co-Founder of Pickleball Vision AI, said the alignment enables both organisations to focus on their core strengths. “By aligning with DUPR as the official rating system, we can focus on what we do best – video-based performance insights – while supporting a unified rating standard for the sport,” he said.
Under the partnership, DUPR will formally explore how AI-powered video analysis can complement its existing match-results-based rating methodology. The immediate objective is to create a clearer and faster onboarding pathway for new players, while preserving DUPR as the definitive source of truth for pickleball ratings.
Players can already access features stemming from the collaboration by uploading gameplay videos directly to PB Vision for an objective DUPR AI rating. In the near future, new players will be able to submit videos directly through the DUPR app and receive a DUPR AI rating powered by PB Vision, along with a detailed breakdown of their gameplay. All new users will receive one free video analysis.
Analytical vision
For players who already hold a DUPR rating, PB Vision’s analysis underscores strengths, weaknesses, and specific aspects of play that influence performance. This allows players to identify which elements of their game are contributing to results and which areas require improvement to drive rating progression over time.
As part of the agreement, PB Vision has designated DUPR as its official and exclusive pickleball rating system. The company will continue to focus on delivering video-based performance insights designed to support player development while reinforcing a unified rating standard across the sport.
PB Vision currently provides secure video analysis through its mobile applications and website, with future integrations expected to allow direct video uploads from the DUPR app. While DUPR will continue issuing official ratings, PB Vision will supply complementary performance analytics using its proprietary AI technology.
In parallel, DUPR is also exploring a potential composite rating model that could integrate supplementary performance inputs alongside match results, including AI-driven video analysis. Data from PB Vision may offer additional context – such as whether a player was being targeted, carrying a team, or influencing play beyond the final score – which could, over time, improve rating accuracy while retaining match results as the foundation of the system.
