Shivani Raghuvanshi on OTT censorship

Speaking to Zoom, Shivani shared her thoughts about censorship on OTT as some shows feature graphic violence and intimate scenes. The  actress said, “Kuch bhi galat nahi hai. Bahar toh ye sab ban raha hai na aur bohot time se ban raha hai. Aur kabhi kabhi kuch cheezon ko leke log… okay, this is also reality. Maybe it’s dark, it’s gritty, but that’s also happening, right? When you talk about intimate scenes, we are so hush-hush about it. Then it just feels like ye bada alienated hai concept.”

The actress futher added, “Main kisiko abhi yehi samjha rahi thi ki at the same time what happens (is) when you make something, hum cinema mein grow karna chah rahe hai. When you make content which has niche audience, jo hai audience (uski). Because there are a lot of people, if you show a film to a cinema lover, we like all sorts of content. But when I am sitting with my mother or my family, unke liye bohot palatable hai kyunki as a country toh hum itna badal toh nahi gaye.”

The Dupahiya 2 actresss stated a regular person wouldn’t understand the language of cinema. That said, she doesn’t really know about the line that needs to be drawn in OTT content. According to her, art cannot have any language.

“Sabka apna hai. How you perceive? You may like something a lot and somebody is like, ‘What is this nonsence and rubbish you’re watching’. Aapka art form hai, you can say whatever you want to say. But I feel like if you’re saying that you’re making the cinema for the audience, then you have to understand ki humari audience stand kaha karti hai” Shivani told Zoom.
