Vinod Khanna’s first wife, Gitanjali Taleyarkhan, belonged to a distinguished Parsi family and was also a well-known model. Vinod and Geetanjali first met during their college days and he was immediately attracted towards her. Both of them started dating at that time. However, Vinod had not entered the film industry at that time. After this the couple decided to get married in the year 1971. Just a year after their marriage, they welcomed their first son, Rahul Khanna, and then gave birth to Akshaye Khanna in 1975. How did Vinod and Geetanjali get divorced?
Vinod initially remained in touch with Geetanjali and his children through phone while living in America. However, the distance proved difficult for them, especially as both their sons were growing up. Geetanjali also had to struggle a lot in his absence. After three years of trying to handle everything alone and convincing Vinod to return home, Geetanjali finally gives him an ultimatum to choose between his family and his spiritual path. When Vinod did not respond, she filed for divorce and the couple separated in the year 1985. Although Vinod returned to India in 1987, his first marriage had ended due to his long stay in the ashram.
On returning to India Vinod resumed his acting career on the advice of Osho. After this, he married Kavita Daftari for the second time in the year 1990. From this marriage also he had two children, a son and a daughter. However, Gitanjali Talyarkhan never married again. She spent her life away from the limelight, raising Rahul and Akshay.
