Indu Singh of Gorakhpur started a dairy of 25 Sahiwal cows under the Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana of the Yogi government. Cost reduced due to 50% subsidy, 200 liters of milk is being produced daily and they are also providing employment by selling it at the rate of Rs 100 per litre.

Gorakhpur. Yogi government’s Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana is not only promoting cow breeding but also making farmers and cattle herders financially strong. Indu Singh of Baharampur village of Pipraich block has written an inspiring success story by joining this scheme. Indu, already associated with animal husbandry, is today running a modern dairy operation.

Dairy of Sahiwal cows established with 50 percent grant

Indu Singh got 50 percent grant under the Nandini Krishak Samridhi Yojana of the Yogi government. With this assistance he established a dairy unit of 25 cows of Sahiwal breed. Today his dairy is producing around 200 liters of milk every day.

Rs 100 per liter milk, increased income

Due to the good quality of milk of the improved Sahiwal breed of cows, it is being sold at the rate of Rs 100 per liter. Indu Singh says that due to this her income is continuously increasing and animal husbandry has now become a profitable business.

Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana is part of the ongoing Nand Baba Mission under the cow protection and cow conservation efforts of the Yogi government. In this scheme-

  • 25 indigenous improved breed cows (Gir, Sahiwal, Tharparkar, Gangatiri)
  • On dairy unit establishment
  • Government grants 50 percent of the project cost

Eligibility for the scheme obtained through e-lottery, cost halved

Indu Singh became the beneficiary of this scheme through e-lottery in the financial year 2023-24. He started a dairy by purchasing 25 Sahiwal cows. The total cost of this project was Rs 62.55 lakh, of which a subsidy of Rs 31.25 lakh was approved by the government. They have received half the amount, while the remaining amount is going to be received soon.

Satisfaction of cow service with employment generation

Indu Singh says that this dairy is earning good income. Four people have got employment and the joy of cow service gives them additional satisfaction. He believes that this scheme is not only enhancing income but also strengthening social concerns.

According to Dr. Dharmendra Pandey, Chief Veterinary Officer of Gorakhpur, artificial insemination is done with sex sorted semen in dairies established under Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana. This will only lead to the birth of a calf, which will further increase milk production and income in future.

Preparation for milk processing and cow product manufacturing

Expressing her gratitude towards Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Indu Singh says that she will soon start making cheese, khoya and butter from milk. She will also work in this field by taking training in preparing products from cow dung and cow urine. His aim is to develop his dairy as a model dairy for other cattle farmers.
