Rishabh Pant braced through a fractured toe to post a fighting half-century in IND vs ENG 4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester. The batter made a face-saving effort for India after retiring hurt on Day 1 as he was struck on his toe by Chris Woakes.

Injured Pant slams fifty

When Rishabh Pant injured his right toe, trying to reverse sweep Chris Woakes, on day 1 of the Manchester Test, it looked like there was no chance that he could bat again in the series. But then Pant lived up to his reputation of presenting something to the opposition, that they did not expect. First he pulled Jofra Archer for a massive six, down the mid-wicket boundary, and then in the next over, followed that up with a block against Ben Stokes, that raced away to the boundary, to hand Rishabh Pant his 17th Test fifty of the career.

 

 

No Ishan Kishan in England series

Ishan Kishan cannot replace Rishabh Pant in India’s squad for the IND vs ENG 5th Test. This comes after a report earlier claimed that the southpaw will replace the Indian vice-captain after the latter sustained a fractured toe on Day 1 of IND vs ENG 4th Test. Kishan has 10 stitches to his left foot after falling off from a scooty.

Ro-Ko return to England

England cricket team will host India for a five-match T20I series and 3 ODIs in July 2026. This series would mark the return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to England for the first time since they announced their retirement from Tests. Read more here.

Asia Cup 2025 all but confirmed

In the latest development, it has emerged that the Asia Cup 2025 will take place between September 8 and 28. This comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) agreed to attend the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting in Dhaka on July 24 virtually after initially opposing it. Lack of practice for England before Ashes

Cricket Australia (CA) announced that England will play only one official red-ball practice match before the first Ashes Test in Perth, lining up a three-day fixture against the England Lions at Lilac Hill from November 13-15. The Test itself begins on November 21 at Optus Stadium. Read more here.

India spinner Shreyanka Patil’s return to competitive cricket has been further delayed due to her prolonged injury.
