Dropped twice, Sahibzada Farhan smashes quickfire fifty for Pakistan in Super 4 clash vs India

New Delhi: Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan punished the Indian bowlers with a quickfire half-century after being handed two lifelines in the Super 4 clash between the two sides in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday. The Pakistan batter was dropped twice by Abhishek Sharma and made the most of the reprieves as he took the Indian bowlers to the cleaners in the game.

Farhan had not even opened his account when he was dropped by Abhishek in the very first over of Pakistan’s innings against Hardik Pandya. Farhan swung against an outside off delivery from Hardik and managed a thick outside edge as the ball flew towards Abhishek, who was stationed at third man. Abhishek spilt the catch despite managing to reach in time, handing Farhan a reprieve.

Farhan went on to smash the Indian bowlers all around the park after being handed a lifeline as he went after Jasprit Bumrah. After Fakhar Zaman’s early departure, Farhan took on Bumrah and smashed two fours against him to help Pakistan get 13 runs from the sixth over bowled by the Indian pacer.

The Pakistan batter looked in solid touch and played the big shots with freedom after being dropped. Abhishek spilt a second chance when he dropped Farhan once again on the boundary rope in the 8th over. Farhan attempted a slog against Varun Chakaravarthy in the 8th over and managed to get a six after Abhishek failed to hold on to a difficult chance.

The Pakistan opener was batting on 32 when he was dropped for the second time in the game. After getting a second lifeline, he went on to notch up his fifty off just 34 balls to hurt India. The 29-year-old notched up his maiden T20I half-century against India in T20Is, and his first fifty for Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025.
