Under the leadership of Yogi government, the Defense Industrial Corridor in Uttar Pradesh is getting new momentum. There are preparations to allot 1000 acres of land in Jhansi, Aligarh, Chitrakoot and Lucknow, which will lead to investment of ₹3500 crore and thousands of employment opportunities.
Uttar Pradesh is now not just a populous state but is also becoming an important center of the country’s industrial strategy. The speed at which the government is taking decisions regarding defense manufacturing under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has further strengthened the confidence of investors. In this series, preparations are being made to allot about 1000 acres of additional land under the UP Defense Industrial Corridor, which is going to give a new direction to industrial expansion in the state. According to government estimates, there is a possibility of investment of about Rs 3,500 crore through this proposed land allotment. Sectors like drones, electronics and advanced manufacturing will be the main focus of this investment.
Jhansi becomes hotspot for defense investment
Jhansi node in the Defense Industrial Corridor has emerged as the first choice of investors. Here Goodluck Astra has proposed an investment of Rs 1000 crore on about 247 acres of land. At the same time, Redwood Hughes has also planned to invest Rs 700 crore on the same land. Apart from this, companies like Citadel and Gurutva have also come forward to invest in defense and related manufacturing sector. This investment strengthens the government’s vision of developing the Bundelkhand region as a defense industrial cluster.

Hi-tech sector promoted in Aligarh and Chitrakoot
There has been increased interest in manufacturing units related to chemical, offshore and defense support in Aligarh Phase-2 node. Companies like Spacechem, Maral and G-1 Offshore have made investment proposals here. Whereas in Chitrakoot node, Bharat Electronics Limited is preparing to invest Rs 672 crore on about 210 acres of land. Along with this, an investment of Rs 100 crore has been proposed by IG Drones in the drone technology sector. With this, Chitrakoot is expected to be recognized as a center of defense electronics and drone technology.
Technology and support units in the capital Lucknow
In Lucknow Defense Node also, activities regarding defense supply chain and technology based units are intense. Companies like Nexa Mumbai, Indraprastha and Promotech are working on high-tech based investment plans in less land. This will strengthen the support system and technology network necessary for the defense sector.
Big step towards employment and self-reliant India
This land allotment proposed under the UP Defense Industrial Corridor is expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for thousands of youth. With this, local MSMEs and startups will get an opportunity to join the defense supply chain. The government believes that this initiative will not only increase the industrial capacity of Uttar Pradesh, but will also provide a strong base to self-reliant India and Make in India campaign in defense production.
