This young man named Karthik Modi has shared his entire story on Instagram. The special thing is that he has achieved this success without any big network or acquaintance abroad. Karthik is currently a software development engineer at Amazon. Before this, he had also worked in big companies like Microsoft and Uber.
Karthik started his preparation with a fixed goal. First of all, he made a list of 25-30 international companies that provide visa sponsorship. For this he used platforms like LinkedIn, Indeed, and Levels.fyi. Next, they studied the job descriptions of nearly 40 companies and identified the skills that more than 60% of the companies were asking for. On this basis, he created a ‘Preparation Roadmap’ for preparation.
This plan was for 10-12 weeks. The first 5 weeks he focused on data structures and the rest of the time was devoted to system design and behavioral training. Instead of solving thousands of questions, he chose the most important 100 questions and focused on understanding their patterns. To help in the interview, he used to practice the answers by saying them out loud.
Apart from all this, he ditched the traditional Indian resume format to create a stunning one-page resume. In this he clearly explained the impact of the projects done by him. Karthik says, ‘There is no shortcut, there should only be proper planning and dedication to complete it.’ Initially he got this remote job, but later Karthik shifted to UK.
