On the special ocassion of Ganesh Chaturthi, the makers of Draupathi 2 released the first-look poster of the much-anticipated film. Directed by Mohan G, the film sees Richard Rishi stepping into the role of King Veera Simha Kadavarayan, a character rooted in history and legend.
Reuniting after their previous collaboration on Draupathi (2020), Mohan G and Richard Rishi bring forth a new chapter that appears to explore the 14th-century Hoysala dynasty. Although the film’s title suggests a continuation, it remains unclear whether Draupathi 2 is a direct sequel to the original.

Set against a historical backdrop, Draupathi 2 promises a narrative rich in heritage and intense drama. The film is being produced by Sola Shakkaravarthi under the banner of GM Film Corporation. Ghibran Vaibodha is composing the music, while Philip R Sunder is handling cinematography, and Devaraj is on board as the editor.
Plot specifics, casting details beyond Richard Rishi, and an exact release date have yet to be disclosed, but the filmmakers have confirmed that the project is slated for a 2025 theatrical release.

Richard Rishi was last seen in Sila Nodigalil (2023), directed by Vinay Bharadwaj and starring alongside Yashika Aannand and Punnagai Poo Gheetha, who also produced the film. Director Mohan G, who made his debut with Pazhaya Vannarapettai (2016), last helmed Bakasuran (2022), featuring Selvaraghavan in the lead.
