The Republican President wrote on Truth Social that from November 1, 2025, all medium and heavy trucks coming from other countries will be imposed at a rate of 25 per cent. Major new charges include a huge tariff of 100 % on any branded or patented drug product. By the way, companies with domestic manufacturing plamb are exempted from this tariff. American consumers and businesses will also face high costs on domestic and industrial goods, including softwood wood (10 per cent), furniture (starting from 25 per cent to 30 per cent) and kitchen cabinet and bathroom vanity (starting from 25 per cent to 50 per cent to 50 per cent). In addition, the administration had earlier raised the tariff to 50 per cent on steel, aluminum and copper and in early 2025 implemented 25 per cent of tariffs on Impo Rated Automobiles and Auto Parts, causing further turmoil in global trade.
More tariffs on many countries including India
Apart from these field-specific charges, the administration has also implemented extensive tariffs. Under the Universal Baseline Tariff, 10 per cent of tariffs have been imposed on most goods in non-related countries, often called “Liberation Day” tariffs (effective from April 2025). Additional country-specific tariffs were installed above the baseline rate, which ranged from 10 per cent to 40 per cent for those countries with the biggest trade deficit of America. For example, China faced a total of 34 per cent tariff rate (which has seen further growth), and European Unison faced a rate of 15 per cent under the mutual system. Initially, 25 percent of recipes on India were imposed a mutual tariff, which was later completed by imposing an additional fine of 25 per cent on Russian oil imports, making the total tariff on most Indian goods to 50 per cent.
