DOLO 650: The consumption of Dolo 650 Tablet in India has touched a worrying level. Indian -origin American doctor Cyrus Poonawala recently tweeted and said, ‘Indian people are eating Dolo 650 as chocolate’. Statistics show that 7.5 crore strips are being consumed daily in the country.
The trend started from Corona period
Dolo 650 was widely used for the treatment of normal fever and body pain during the corona epidemic. ‘Dolo 650 was considered safe for fever during the Corona period but now people are taking it for every minor problem.’ The use of this medicine did not diminish even after the epidemic was over. In some cases, allegations of promoting this medicine have also been reported to doctors for financial benefits.

The biggest problem of Dolo 650 is its easy availability. This medicine is found without a doctor’s prescription at medical stores. People take it for immediate relief in minor headache, fatigue or fever. ‘People forget that Dolo 650 is a brand of paracetamol and more intake of it can be dangerous.’
Dolo 650’s severe side effects
Liver Damage: Taking a large amount of dolo increases the risk of acute liver failure. Paracetamol liver contains metabolles and overdose disrupts its function. Kidney problems: Long use may affect kidney function. Allergic reaction: Some people may have allergies like rashes, itching or shortness of breathing on the skin. Danger of hidden symptoms: This medicine can suppress the symptoms of serious diseases, which can delay treatment at the right time. Stress and sleep disturbances: Excessive use can increase mental stress and sleep problems.
Why is there dangerous without medical advice?
Dolo 650 contains paracetamol (650 mg) which is effective in fever and pain but its wrong use can be fatal. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the safe daily dose of paracetamol for adults should not exceed 4,000 mg. Many people take Dolo with other drugs in which paracetamol is already present, which increases the risk of overdose.
