Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh ordered an inquiry into the incident on Tuesday. The Health Minister has directed the hospital officials as well as the local police to investigate the matter from all possible angles. Officials said the recovered head has been handed over to the forensic team for detailed investigation. The minister assured that the state government is taking the matter very seriously and will ensure accountability after investigation.

What did the Medical Superintendent say?

Medical Superintendent Dr. Vishal Chopra clarified that no newborn baby is missing from the hospital. He said that all the recent infant deaths have been duly registered and the bodies have been handed over to the families with appropriate documents. Dr. Chopra said, “It seems that someone may have thrown his baby’s remains from outside.” The police has been informed about this and the matter is currently under investigation.
