This is a very rare disorder
The authors of the case report say that Foreign Language Syndrome is very rare. Only 9 cases have been officially recorded, the majority of which were men who learned the second language after upbringing. This syndrome is very rare in children and may be the first case of this syndrome in teenagers.
What is Foreign Language Syndrome?
In Foreign Language Syndrome, the patient suddenly starts speaking a language other than his mother tongue. In this he may also lose the ability to speak and understand his mother tongue. This is different from foreign accent syndrome.
What is foreign accent syndrome?
According to the Cleveland Clinic, in Foreign Accent Syndrome there is a sudden change in the way the victim speaks. He speaks his own language, but his accent becomes like that of a foreign language. You can understand it as if an Indian starts speaking Hindi like an Englishman.
