In Barabanki, UP, a woman died due to stone surgery done after watching YouTube. The operation was carried out by the owner of an illegal clinic and his son-in-law. Police have sealed the clinic and registered a case against the accused.

Barabanki (Uttar Pradesh): A woman died after undergoing surgery after watching YouTube. The owner of an illegal clinic in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki and his son-in-law performed surgery on a woman after watching a YouTube video. Police said that both were running the clinic without any recognition. Tej Bahadur Rawat’s wife Munishra Rawat was suffering from kidney stones. On December 5, her husband took her to Shri Damodar dispensary present in the house. Gyan Prakash Mishra, who runs the clinic, told that the cause of stomach pain was stones and advised surgery. He told that it would cost Rs 25,000. Police said that the husband had also deposited Rs 20,000 before the surgery.

The husband has said in his complaint that Mishra was drunk and started the surgery only after watching a YouTube video tutorial. Mishra made a deep incision in his wife’s stomach and cut several veins. He alleged that after this the woman died on the evening of 6 December.

Mishra’s son-in-law Vivek Kumar Mishra was also helping during the surgery. Police said that Vivek Kumar Mishra is an employee in an Ayurvedic hospital in Rae Bareli and under the guise of this government job, he was running this illegal clinic for years.

The police have now sealed this illegal clinic. Apart from causing death by negligence, a case has also been registered under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989 against the clinic owner and his son-in-law. Police said that efforts are on to arrest the accused.
