The winter season has started. During this period, some people start coughing as soon as they wake up in the morning. Some people also start getting soreness and mucus. This happens due to dry air in the season and increase in allergies. This cough is usually not serious nor is it a symptom of a major disease, however if it persists for more than two weeks then a doctor should be consulted. Dr. Bhagwan Mantri in the Department of Pulmonology at Moolchand Medcity Hospital, Delhi show that Cough Allergy or bacteria can occur due to any reason. The problem of allergy increases in winter as compared to summer. However, one can get relief from cough by adopting some methods. For this, it is most important that you start drinking lukewarm water after waking up in the morning in winter. This is because people drink less water in winter. Due to this the body starts getting dehydrated. Drinking a glass of lukewarm water on an empty stomach in the morning reduces dryness of the throat. This also provides relief to the respiratory tract and removes dirt from the throat. This provides relief from cough symptoms.
ginger and honey
Dr. Minister says that except children below one year, anyone can eat ginger and honey. This is a very effective remedy to provide relief from cough. If the cough is dry then start taking one teaspoon grated ginger and one teaspoon honey before sleeping at night. It reduces morning cough considerably. This provides relief from cough to a great extent.
Steam is very beneficial
Dr. RP Parashar, Chief Ayurvedic Officer in Delhi Government, says that steam is very beneficial in providing relief from cough. This is one such recipe that helps in reducing cough. Inhaling steam before sleeping at night cleans your respiratory tract and provides relief from cough.
eat a light dinner
Dr. Parashar explains that eating food is also related to cough. If you eat heavy food late at night, it increases acidity, due to which there is a risk of acid reflux at night. In such a situation, try to eat food at least 2 hours before sleeping at night.
Both Dr. Parashar and Dr. Mantri say that if these remedies have an effect in the beginning then it is fine, if not then you should consult doctors for cough. Do not take any syrup or medicine by yourself.
