Navratri 2025 Kanya Pujan: Virgo worship has special significance in Sharadiya Navratri, but do you know that there are some gifts during this ritual which should never be given? These six items are considered inauspicious in the scriptures.
Navratri Gift Ideas 2025: Kanya Pujan is one of the most important rituals of Navratri. On the eighth or ninth day, the goddess of younger girls is worshiped as Durga. They are served food, blessed and gifts are given. But according to the scriptures, all gifts are not considered auspicious during this ritual. Just as the right gifts bring blessings, wrong gifts can have negative effects. Here are 6 things which you should never gift to girls during the girl’s worship.
Black clothes
In Hinduism, black color is associated with Saturn and negative energy. Since Navratri is a festival of purity and positivity, it is considered inauspicious to gift black clothes. Instead, gift bright and auspicious colors like red, yellow or pink.
leather goods
Leather items like purse, belt or shoes should never be given during Virgo Pujan. Leather is associated with meat and tamasic energy, against the sattvic rituals of Navratri. It is better to gift clothes, toys or stationery items.
Iron or steel utensils
Although gifting utensils is often considered auspicious, iron and steel are exceptions. They are associated with Saturn and are believed to bring sorrow. Instead, choose copper, brass, clay or glass utensils, which are considered more positive and beneficial.
Pointed objects (knife, scissors, blades)
The use of pointed items in religious rituals is strictly forbidden. Giving knives, scissors or blades in gifts can cause discord and negativity. According to the scriptures, such objects can create a rift in relationships. Instead, give books, pencil boxes or toys that communicate happiness and knowledge.

Plastic items
Although plastic has become common nowadays, it is not suitable for religious rituals. Plastic is harmful to the environment and is considered inauspicious. Instead, choose natural gifts such as wooden toys, earthen objects or clothes, which are both environmentally friendly and spiritually positive.
cash
Many people pay money in the form of Dakshina during Virgo Pujan, but it is considered less meaningful to give only cash Dakshina. It seems more a formality than a symbol of true devotion. Instead, offer fruits, sweets, books, stationery or clothes with respect and blessings. During Navratri, Virgo Pujan is not just about donating-it is about respecting young girls as the form of a goddess. Choosing the right gift brings prosperity, peace and happiness in your home.
