But a new study published in JAMA Network, ‘Association of Dietary Cholesterol and Egg Consumption with Incident Cardiovascular Disease and Mortality’, states that eating eggs daily increases the risk of heart diseases and death.
However, there has always been a controversy about whether eating eggs really has a bad effect on heart health. Many experts and doctors do not seem to agree with this claim.
Let us know what has been told in this new study-
How much does half an egg increase the risk?
Researchers have found that for every half egg eaten daily, the risk of heart disease increases by 6 percent and the risk of death by 8 percent over the course of 17.5 years. The reason for this has been considered to be the cholesterol present in eggs. This research is contrary to what is said that cholesterol present in food is not a matter of tension.
For this research, researchers from Northwestern University of Chicago analyzed 6 American research data, which contained information of 29,615 people. This research was observational, that is, these people were not asked to follow any specific diet, only the health results were monitored by taking information about their diet and lifestyle.
How much cholesterol is in 1 egg?
Initially, information was taken from people about their diet, which included things like how many eggs they eat daily. A large egg contains about 186 mg of cholesterol. Other information related to people’s lifestyle was taken, like how much exercise do they do daily?
After taking all this information, they were tracked for an average of 17.5 years. According to the British Heart Foundation, an excess of 300 mg of cholesterol increases the risk of heart disease by 17% and the risk of death by 18%.
Comparison of Eggs and Cholesterol
When researchers compared the risk associated with eating eggs and cholesterol, they found that the amount of cholesterol in eggs was the main factor that increased the risk. Therefore, if you include eggs in your diet, you will have to reduce the amount of food you eat daily.
Although eggs are rich in nutrition, research suggests that eating too many eggs may be linked to an increased risk of heart disease and death. If you take more eggs every day then it would be better to eat them in the right quantity. Along with this, you also need to keep an eye on those habits which are not good for your health.
