Step 1 – Collect materials to make Ganpati from soil
There is no need for much goods to make Ganpati. Choose pure natural soil (without chemical) and take water in a small bucket. Apart from this, wood or steel sticks (to give shape), brush and light color (natural color, such as turmeric, sandalwood or flower color) and a clean plate or strap on which the idol will be made. Keep in mind that do not use chemical colors or plaster of Paris (POP).

Step 2 – Prepare soil for Ganpati Murthy
First of all, soak the soil in water and knead it. Make it soft like flour so that cracks do not occur. If the soil becomes more wet, then mix a little dry soil powder and fix it. The well -educated soil gives the perfect base to make the idol.
Step 3 – Build Ganpati’s base and body
Make a round ball and prepare its base (posture). Now make a big earthen ball and make Ganapati’s body (torso). Put a small ball for the head over it. Gently shape hands, feet and trunk. Make ears wide and semi -chandrakars, because Ganpati’s ears are like elephants.

Step 4 – Note the face and detailing
Make eye, eyebrows and lips with a wooden stick or pen cap. Fold the trunk to the right or left (according to your family tradition). Keep the stomach slightly circular, which is the identity of Ganapati ji. If you want, you can also keep modak in hand by making a small earthen ball.
Step 5 – Decoration and finishing of clay Ganpati
Clean the idol lightly with a brush so that there is no cracks. If you want, you can make a light color with a natural color made of turmeric, sandalwood or flowers. Allow the idol to dry at least 1 day so that it becomes solid. When the idol is ready, decorate it by keeping it on lease and install on Ganesh Chaturthi. Keep the size of the idol small and compact so that immersion is easy.
