On this day, special worship of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha is done in the evening. Start by cleaning the temple
First of all, clean the temple. Remove all the dust and old flowers accumulated in it. Clean all the idols and pictures of the puja and wear new clothes. Clean puja utensils, lamps and other things thoroughly. Spread a new or clean cloth at the place of worship. This cloth can be red or yellow as these are considered auspicious colors. Install idols or pictures of Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha and other deities on it.

Garland flowers on and around the temple. Place an arch of marigold and Ashoka leaves at the door of the temple and it is considered auspicious. Decorate lamps around the temple. You can use colorful earthen lamps, wax lamps or decorative lamps. You can also fill a big plate with water and keep flower petals and floating lamps in it. These look very beautiful. You will get many varieties in this.
Special decoration of Lakshmi-Ganesh
Place Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha on a throne or pedestal. Dress them in new clothes and do makeup. Keep items used in puja like flowers, turmeric, kumkum and sweets around them. Take a copper or clay pot, fill it with water, place mango leaves and coconut. Also place garlands of flowers around the post.

Make small footprints of Goddess Lakshmi outside the temple and from the main gate to the temple. These can be made with flour or rangoli. Apart from this, you can also apply readymade stickers.
