According to the story described in Ramayana, after killing Ravana, Lord Rama handed over the kingdom of Lanka to Vibhishana, but at that time there was some time left for the 14 years of exile to end. Then when Lord Ram returned from 14 years of exile, he met all the people who had helped him in some way or the other. After this, Lord Shri Ram came to meet him at the ashram of Rishi Bhardwaj situated on the banks of Ganga in Prayagraj. Hanuman ji, Lakshman and Mother Sita were also with Lord Ram. From there he sent Hanuman ji to his beloved brother Anuj Bharat.
Hanuman ji reached Bharat
Lord Ram asked Hanuman ji to tell Bharat that he would reach Ayodhya soon. Lord Ram was afraid that if the news of his arrival did not reach Bharat in time, he would commit suicide. On the advice of the Lord, Bajrangbali left for Ayodhya. In Ayodhya, first of all he went to Nandigram to Bharat. When Hanuman ji arrived, Bharat was sleeping. Hanuman ji woke him up and told Bharat that Lord Ram would soon reach Ayodhya.
Nature bloomed and the river started flowing continuously.
Bharat jumped with joy after hearing about Lord Ram’s arrival in Ayodhya and he started telling the people of Ayodhya that my and your Lord Ram is about to come. As soon as the people of Ayodhya heard this, their faces lit up. As soon as the news of Shri Ram’s return to Ayodhya was received, the nature there blossomed. The dried Saryu river started flowing continuously again. This description is found in Uttarkand of Ramayana.
After hearing about Lord Ram’s return to Ayodhya, the people of Ayodhya decorated the entire Ayodhya with lamps. The gods and goddesses also started showering flowers from above. When Prabhu reached Ayodhya, he embraced everyone. After that happiness returned again to Ayodhya.
