New Delhi: Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Yousuf made a derogatory remark on Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav, butchering his name during a panel discussion on a Pakistani channel following India’s victory against the Salman Ali Agha-led side in the Asia Cup 2025. India thrashed Pakistan by 7 wickets in the group A match in Dubai to secure their spot in the Super 4 stage of the tournament.
The Indian players decided to take a stand during the game, avoiding customary handshakes with the Pakistani players. Suryakumar avoided eye contact with Pakistan captain Salman and snubbed a handshake with him at the toss. The Indian captain repeated his gesture after leading his team to victory in their 128-run chase.
Suryakumar headed straight to the dressing room with his batting partner Shivam Dube, refusing to shake hands with the Pakistani players. Other Indian players and support staff also joined the symbolic protest and avoided coming out on the ground for the customary handshake with the Pakistani team. India’s no-handshake gesture didn’t go down well with many in Pakistan and has snowballed into a controversy.
Mohammad Yousuf’s disgusting ‘pig’ jibe on Suryakumar Yadav
Speaking during a panel discussion on Samaa TV, Yousuf appeared to have lost his temper, making baseless allegations against the Indian team before making a derogatory remark about the Indian skipper Suryakumar. The former batter alleged India ‘used umpires’ and ‘tortured’ Pakistan using the match referee and referred to Suryakumar as ‘pig’.
“India are unable to get out of their filmy world. This Suar Kumar Yadav (Suryakumar Yadav) and India should be ashamed of the way they are trying to win – using umpires, torturing (Pakistan) by using the match referee, it is a high note,” Yousuf said during the panel discussion.
Despite being corrected by the anchor when he first mispronounced Suryakumar’s name, Yousuf stuck to his shameful ‘pig’ jibe at the Indian captain.
Mohammad Yousuf addressed Surya Kumar Yadav as Suar Kumar Yadav while other panelists laughed.
This is shameful and this is why India should never play against Pakistan. This I unprecedented and I have never seen a single former Indian cricketer abusing any Pakistani cricketer… pic.twitter.com/3itOY1vsjd

Mohammad Yousuf stoops to new low, even by Pakistan standards
Ex-Pakistani cricketers have never failed to stir controversy by making baseless allegations against India, however, Yousuf’s disgusting jibe is a new low for him even by Pakistan’s standards. The former Pakistan batter, who converted from Christianity to Islam and changed his name from Yousuf Yohana to Mohammad Yousuf, has rightfully been slammed by many on social media for his shameful comment.
Pakistan’s 7-wicket defeat against India in the Asia Cup 2025 was their 11th loss against the Men in Blue in just 14 meetings in T20Is. While India have qualified for the Super 4 in the tournament, Pakistan will get dumped out if they fail to beat home team UAE in their final group-stage match.
