Actor Dino Morea was arrested by the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Friday in connection with the alleged Mithi River desilting scam. According to a report by Mid-Day, the actor underwent eight hours of intense questioning, following which he was apprehended and taken into custody from his Bandra residence.

Why is Dino Morea arrested?

The case is about an alleged financial irregularities. The investigation concerns contracts awarded for the desilting and rejuvenation of Mumbai’s Mithi River. Investigators are examining the alleged involvement of contractors, intermediaries and civic officials, with the BMC reportedly incurring losses of Rs 65.54 crore. This is not the first time when Morea was questioned. The actor was questioned before as well. Back in May 2025, Dino along with his brother Santino Morea were questioned by the EOW after the both of their phone calls records were linking them to people connected with the probe.

The EOW was also scrutinising financial transactions involving Santino’s company, UBO Ridez, as well as individuals allegedly connected to the case.

According to reports an EOW officer said, “We summoned [Dino] Morea after investigators came across phone records indicating contact with some people linked to the case.”

The investigation has also focused on Ketam Kadam, who was put behind the bars in 2025 and is among accused linked with the case. Police is also emphasising on the allegations surrounding the awarding of civic contracts and payments related to the river-cleaning work.

Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate conducted a search at Morea’s residence in connection with the probe, along with searches at several other premises linked to individuals being investigated in the case.

A special Investigation Team was set up in 2024 after allegations of irregularities were raised in connection with the desilting of the 17.84-km-long Mithi River.
