Digvesh Rathi Signs Hefty Contract With South Delhi Superstarz, Set To Earn More Salary Than In DPL Than IPL

Digvesh Rathi emerged as one of the costliest picks in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 auction on Sunday (July 6). The mystery spinner was expected to be one of the top picks after it was confirmed that he would be back in the auction and the franchises were ready to pay him a huge amount.

Digvesh re-signed with South Delhi Superstarz for a huge sum of Rs 38 lakh. He came into prominence with his mystery spin for South Delhi in DPL 2024 and also bagged an IPL contract with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) few months after DPL.

Digvesh, who was one of the marquee players, entered the auction with a base price of Rs 10 lakh. At one stage, Purani Dilli was also interested in signing him. But South Delhi made the winning bid for him. Digvesh would have played along with Rishabh Pant, his IPL captain, had he joined Purani Dilli.

Digvesh to earn more in DPL than IPL

Interestingly, Digvesh will earn more salary in DPL than IPL. He joined Lucknow Super Giants at his base price of Rs 30 lakh in the IPL 2025 mega-auction. He will earn 8 lakh more in DPL than IPL.

It’s quite rare for a player to earn more salary in a state T20 league than IPL. In 2023, Sai Sudharsan joined TNPL franchise Lyca Kovai Kings for Rs 21.6 lakh. It was 1.6 lakh more than his IPL salary, which was 20 lakh from 2022 to 2024. Gujarat Titans (GT) retained Sudharsan for Rs 8.50 crore before the IPL 2025 mega-auction.

Digvesh had a memorable IPL season with Lucknow Super Giants and he topped their wicket-taking charts. The 25-year-old scalped 14 wickets in 13 matches. He was also suspended for one match during the season. Digvesh’s ‘signature’ celebration was one of the talking points of IPL 2025.
