Uttar Pradesh has created a new identity in IT and AI. The goal of the Yogi government is to make UP a global technology hub by 2047, preparing 15-20 decocorn startups and bringing the state’s economy to 6 trillion dollars.
Lucknow, 07 September. In the last eight and a half years, Uttar Pradesh has made great progress in new areas like Information Technology (IT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state has taken concrete steps towards setting up the challenges before 2017 as a new technology hub.
CM Yogi’s vision is that by 2047, UP should stand 15-20 Decacorn (companies worth $ 10 billion) in UP. For this, technologies like IT, AI and Deep-Tech are being promoted. Also, emphasis is being laid on preparing more than 4 crore youth as global skilled workforce.
Change before and now before 2017
Before 2017, there was no concrete policy nor any major vision regarding IT and digital sector in the state. The software export was very limited, the data centers were present only on paper, the state was missing behind in technical race. But today the situation has changed due to the efforts of the Yogi government:
- North India’s first data center was established in Gautam Budh Nagar
- Many more data centers are under construction
- UP has set a new record in software exports
With this, the state has strengthened its place on national and global IT maps.
UP’s roadmap by 2030
The goal of the Yogi government is to make UP a big hub of technology by 2030.
- AI City will be developed in Lucknow and Kanpur
- NCR, Lucknow and Noida will be made the Global Capability Center (GCC) Hub
- Incubators will be installed in every division
- Target to prepare at least 20 unicorn startups by 2030
- Satellite will be launched in collaboration with ISRO, which will help in disaster management and weather forecasting
- Increasing software exports by 5 times will work
Long -term vision up to 2047
- The government aims to 2047 in the middle and long term:
- UP should be made a global leader of AI, quantum computing and blockchain
- The state should be established as world class technology corridor
- 15 to 20 decocorn startups ready
- UP becomes the biggest contribution state of India’s IT exports
Four major strategic columns
The government’s strategy is based on four pillars: AI City, Green IT and Sustainable Tech, Global Capability Center (GCC), Space Technology.

- Digital infrastructure expands to Tier-2 and 3 cities
- Satellite ecosystem
- Connect global startup
- Cyber security and data protection

UP will become skill capital
CM Yogi has placed skill development at the center to carry forward the IT vision. The goal is to provide industry-based skills to 100% youth of the state, more than 4 crore global skilled workforce will be prepared. There are plans to include 5 educational institutions in 200 best institutions in the world. Youth will be prepared according to the industry 4.0. World class universities and R&D centers will be established.
6 trillion dollar economy target
The Yogi government has a big resolve that by 2047, UP’s economy reached 6 trillion dollars. This will be 20% of India’s estimated GDP. For this, 16% CAGR (compound annual growth rate) will have to be maintained from 2025-26 to 2047-48. In the current financial year, a target of $ 353 billion economy has been set. The state’s economy is planned to reach $ 1 trillion by 2030, $ 2 trillion by 2036 and $ 6 trillion by 2047. There is a target to reach Rs 26 lakh per capita income of Uttar Pradesh by 2047.
UP will become a digital powerhouse
The vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is clear – with the power of IT and skill development, UP will not only be made a digital powerhouse of India, but will also be identified as a technology destination globally. This initiative will provide mass employment to the youth and will give Uttar Pradesh a new identity on the world map.
