Uttar Pradesh, which was once known as an agricultural state, has now proved its mettle in the world of technology as well. The vision and innovative policies of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have made UP the emerging IT hub of India. The IT and Electronics Department is rapidly laying the foundation stone of digital transformation in the state. Cities like Lucknow, Noida, Kanpur and Varanasi have now become part of the Global Technology Network.
Digital UP is standing strong
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath says that “Information technology is not just a technology, but a medium of change.” Taking this thinking forward, the government has started a campaign to make UP a hub of IT innovation. As a result, today the IT sector of the state is making new records.

Top companies are making big investments
Yogi government’s IT Policy 2017-2022 and new IT and ITES Policy 2022 have set a new example of confidence for investors.

These investments have generated capital investment of ₹5,584 crore and 53,000 employment opportunities. At the same time, new projects have been approved for 900 youth, on which investment of more than ₹ 48 crore is proposed.
IT sector gets new flight after getting the status of industry
Yogi government has made the investment environment more favorable by giving the status of “Industry” to the IT and ITES sector. Now IT companies are getting land available at industrial rates, due to which they are investing in the state with confidence.
Rapidly developing centers in the state with the support of STPI (Software Technology Parks of India):
- Noida
- Meerut
- Lucknow
- Kanpur
- Prayagraj
- Agra
Now this expansion is being extended to Varanasi, Bareilly and Gorakhpur. This step will also add small towns to the mainstream of the digital economy.
Youth’s journey changing due to digitalization
The story of thousands of youth like Deepti of Kanpur, Aryan of Gorakhpur has become a proof of the new digital success of the state. The opportunities which were earlier limited only to Delhi-Bengaluru, have now reached every city of UP. The state government has launched a digital incentive portal for IT and ITES projects, making the application and approval process transparent.
UP becomes the engine of ‘Digital India’
Yogi government’s efforts of seven years have taken UP beyond agriculture and made it a center of technology, innovation and employment. Digital UP is no longer just a slogan but has become a powerful economic reality that is setting the new direction for India’s technological progress.
