‘Difficulty in breathing and burning sensation in eyes’, read the condition of Delhiites on the morning of the second day of Diwali.

Air pollution has increased in Delhi after Diwali. The AQI is in the ‘very poor’ category (359), with many areas in the ‘severe’ level. People are having difficulty in breathing and burning sensation in the eyes.

New Delhi: Due to increased air pollution after Diwali, people of Delhi have complained of difficulty in breathing and burning sensation in the eyes. Sagar, a resident of the capital, blamed the people for the deterioration in air quality.

He said, “Pollution has not just increased today; it has been increasing for years. Everyone blames the leaders, but people themselves are like this. People are not improving themselves. You will get crackers, but it is up to you whether you burst them or not. Then they will complain that the government is not doing anything… there is difficulty in breathing, there is burning sensation in the eyes.”

Ashish Ranjan, a local resident who had come to run on his duty path, also complained of difficulty in breathing. He said, \”There is difficulty in breathing while running. I am not able to breathe properly.\”

Another resident of the city said, “It is everyone’s responsibility. If every person takes responsibility, AQI levels can be controlled. Just thinking about the government and agencies will not help. As a society, we should take this responsibility and keep things under control. There were clear orders to use green crackers, and if we can follow these rules, we will be doing a good service to the society.”
