Director Anees Bazmee has had a long working relationship with Salman Khan. From writing Mujhse Shaadi Karogi to directing him in No Entry and Ready, the filmmaker’s association with Khan has been over two decades. In an exclusive interview with Zoom for its Spotlight Sessions, Anees Bazmee opened up about working with the Bollywood superstar on the 2005 film No Entry. After discussing the same, the director broke his silence on rumours of his fight with Salman on the set of Ready. Back then, it was speculated that the director-actor duo had a major verbal spat. However, it was a ‘rumour’, Bazmee told us.

Reacting to rumours of his alleged fight with Salman, said in Hindi, “At that time, whenever we met, we would laugh over it. He would ask me, ‘Anees bhai, tell me one thing. When did our fight happen?’ He isn’t the kind of person who would ever give too much clarification, and so am I. I have never tried to justify or clarify my things. I haven’t felt the need to do it.”
The filmmaker further told Zoom why he never had any disagreement with the superstar. “There has never been any disagreement between us because he is such a lovely person. If I had to give him a name, I would call him Dil Khan. He is a very good human being. Every moment spent with him is important. It was a rumour. People wanted something like that to happen, but it never happened,” he added.
Bazmee also said that there is a lot love between him and . According to him, the actor was ‘superb’ in Ready. In the same conversation, the director recalled working with him on No Entry. Anees admitted that he was happy when producer Boney Kapoor informed him about the superstar agreeing to do the project.
What happened next? “His scenes were written and the way he worked… I feel who else could’ve played Prem except him? He looked so good and did a great job. He wasn’t innocent but naughty Prem (laughs). His work and the climax were good,” the filmmaker shared.

On the work front, Anees has directed Hindi films like Hulchul, Singh Is Kinng, Welcome Back, Pagalpanti, Thank You, Mubarakan, and more. His last directorial project was Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which featured Kartik Aaryan, Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit Nene.
