After giving two huge hits Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar 2 in a span of four months, neither Ranveer Singh, nor his fans were aware that the project he will not work on – will be making the most headlines. After his dramatic exit from the highly anticipated franchise, there has not been a single day without new updates on the controversy. While reports of a fallout between Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar-led Excel Entertainment have been making waves for months, a fresh revelation has added several names to the dispute. According to a recent report, Singh allegedly admitted during mediation discussions that he would not have walked away from Don 3 had his blockbuster film Dhurandhar not succeeded! The report has also brought several prominent Bollywood names, including Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar, into the spotlight due to their involvement in behind-the-scenes mediation efforts.
Alia Bhatt, Salman Khan, Karan Johar’s role in Don 3 mediation attempt
The Don 3 controversy began after reportedly exited the film just days before it was scheduled to go on floors. The decision allegedly left Excel Entertainment facing significant losses and triggered a dispute that eventually reached major industry bodies, including the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and the Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA).
Ranveer Singh reportedly quit Don 3 days before shooting was supposed to begin
According to Variety, Excel Entertainment filed a formal complaint with the Producers Guild of India, prompting a series of mediation meetings aimed at resolving the conflict. These discussions involved some of the biggest names in the Hindi film industry. The first round of meetings reportedly featured around 25 senior industry members, including superstar Salman Khan. Subsequent discussions saw the participation of Hrithik Roshan, filmmaker-producer Karan Johar and actress Alia Bhatt. Their involvement was part of a broader effort by industry stakeholders to find a resolution between the actor and the production house. Considering Karan and Alia recently worked with Ranveer on Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and also share good relations with Farhan Akhtar, the fact that both parties still did not reach a middle ground is surprising as well as worrying!
A later joint session reportedly brought both Singh and Excel representatives to the table. This meeting was attended by several influential figures, including Aamir Khan, Anil Kapoor, Rohit Shetty, Rajkumar Hirani, Ashutosh Gowariker, producer Sidharth Roy Kapur and Viacom18 studio head Ajit Andhare. Importantly, the sessions were reportedly conducted outside the Producers Guild’s formal framework, allowing participants to speak freely without being bound by official positions.
Ranveer Singh’s huge confession!
One of the most talked-about revelations from the report concerns an alleged exchange between Excel Entertainment co-founder Ritesh Sidhwani and Ranveer Singh. According to sources quoted by Variety, Sidhwani directly asked Singh whether he would have exited Don 3 if Dhurandhar had not become a success.
People present during the discussions reportedly claimed that Singh admitted he would not have left the project had Dhurandhar failed to perform.
The actor has not publicly commented on the claim at the time of reporting.
Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh are embroiled in Don 3 controversy
The report further states that Singh later proposed a settlement to resolve the dispute. His offer allegedly included an immediate compensation payment of Rs 10 crore and a 25 percent discount on his fee for any future project with Excel Entertainment. However, the producers rejected the proposal. Their reasoning was reportedly straightforward: a discount on a future collaboration held little value if they no longer intended to work with the actor. Instead, Excel was said to be seeking direct compensation for the financial losses caused by the film’s disruption.
