Till date there is no cure for diabetes. Once this happens, only then can it be controlled, but now its treatment has come. AIIMS doctor claims that this disease can be cured with a surgery. Dr. Manjunath of the surgery department of AIIMS has claimed that diabetes has been cured after just two hours of surgery.
TV9 Digital In conversation with Dr. Manjunath told that the International Diabetes Association had also recommended this surgery as a treatment for diabetes in the year 2016 itself. The association had said that with surgery, the disease can be reversed and the sugar level can be controlled forever. The same surgery was done on 30 patients in AIIMS. Now the sugar level of those patients is under control and they do not need to take medicines. Dr Manjunath claimed that when medicines fail to control the disease, surgery can save lives and control sugar levels.
what type of surgery was performed
Dr. Nath told that this surgery is like bariatric surgery to reduce obesity. In medical language, this is called Metabolic Surgery. In this, a tube-like passage is made directly from the patient’s esophagus (the tube connecting the throat and the stomach). Through this made tube, food comes from the mouth to the food pipe and then to the stomach. But after the stomach, the food does not go into the duodenum and goes directly into the small intestines. The benefit of this is that insulin sensitivity increases immediately in a diabetic patient. Pancreas starts producing insulin as per requirement and sugar level becomes normal within a day or two.
Diabetes cured by surgery
Dr. Nath told Dawa that with the help of surgery the sugar level became normal and We can say that diabetes is goneAlthough after this surgery, if people keep their lifestyle bad for years then there is a risk of getting diabetes, but generally this does not happen with every patient, Only by good lifestyle and eating habits can the sugar level be kept under control for years and diabetes does not come back,
Dr. Manju Nath said that this surgery eliminates diabetes, but it is effective only in type-2 diabetes. It is not particularly effective in those who have Type-1 i.e. genetic diabetes.
Why does diabetes occur?
The main reasons for diabetes are the pancreas not producing enough insulin or the body not responding properly to insulin. When this happens, the sugar level in the blood increases. If it continues for a long time then it is called diabetes. Wrong eating habits, obesity and impaired lifestyle are the major causes of diabetes.
