Dia Mirza’s chartreuse sari from Shanti Banaras features vintage floral motifs hand-woven in silver zari

Dia Mirza advocates for environmental causes as a United Nations Environment Programme Goodwill Ambassador. The actor has consistently aligned her public persona with her values, especially to her wardrobe, where she regularly champions sustainable, handwoven Indian textiles. After recently making an appearance in a  at a conference, Mirza attended the trailer launch of her upcoming thriller-drama, Ikka, in a chartreuse chiffon-georgette sari by the Varanasi-based label Shanti Banaras.

The lightweight sari featured fine silver zari floral buttis scattered across the body, while a woven zari border and pallu showcased vintage roses motifs connected with arches. Draped in the classic nivi style, Mirza paired it with a sleeveless blouse featuring button-closure detailing. Stylist Theia Tekchandaney completed the look with  stud  , a diamond bangle and a statement choker set with green   by Golecha’s Jewels. Makeup artist Avinash Prajapati opted for dewy skin, winged eyeliner, softly tinted eyeshadow and  , while hairstylist Vithika Jaiswal styled her hair in a sleek side-parted bun.

Mirza has championed heritage textiles through her wardrobe for years, frequently turning to Banarasi, Kanchipuram and other traditional weaves. At an event in New Delhi, the environmental activist wore a cotton sari, woven by Vijayamma J—an artisan working with Save The Loom. At another, in 2022, she accepted the Mother Teresa Memorial Award at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai, wearing an ivory Banarasi sari by Shanti Banaras. Made in tussar georgette, the drape recreated Pichwai-inspired landscapes through hand embroidery.
