Dhurandhar Piracy In Pakistan: Ranveer Singh’s film ‘Dhurandhar’ made a record breaking earning of around Rs 1350 crore worldwide. It was banned in Pakistan at the time of its release, but now after coming on OTT, its pirated copies are being sold indiscriminately there.
Bollywood star Ranveer Singh’s spy-action film ‘Dhurandhar’ became extremely popular not only in India but also abroad due to its strong story, large-scale action and patriotic feelings. Released in December 2025, the film broke records at the box office and earned more than Rs 1350 crore worldwide. After the theatrical run, the film also made a splash on OTT, but meanwhile its piracy has created a new controversy in Pakistan.
Pirated copy of ‘Dhurandhar’ being sold openly in Pakistan
Amidst the success of the film, a video sparked a new debate. New Zealand YouTuber Karl Rock visited Karachi’s famous Rainbow Center Market, where pirated copies of ‘Dhurandhar’ were seen being sold openly. The shopkeeper quoted its price as only 50 Pakistani rupees (about 16 Indian rupees). This issue came into focus because there is an official ban on the theatrical release of Indian films in Pakistan, yet illegal copies of the film are easily available.
‘Dhurandhar’ included among the country’s most profitable films
‘Dhurandhar’, directed by Aditya Dhar, made many big records with its release. According to trade reports, the film made a gross collection of more than Rs 1350 crore worldwide, due to which it became one of the highest grossing films not only of Hindi cinema but also of India. The film’s story, high-octane action and strong message of patriotism were greatly appreciated by the audience. Apart from India, it got great response in foreign countries also, due to which its popularity continued to increase.
Dhurandhar number-1 on Netflix, excitement about sequel
After a blockbuster performance in theatres, ‘Dhurandhar’ released on Netflix on 30 January 2026. Within a few days of its release, the film reached number 1 in the top-10 lists in many countries. The special thing was that in Pakistan also it started trending number-1 on OTT platform. The film’s producer Jyoti Deshpande called it a historic achievement for mainstream cinema. Now its sequel ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ is going to be released on March 19, from which a lot of expectations are being raised. Apart from Ranveer Singh, the film stars Akshay Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R. Artists like Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun have worked.
