Dhurandhar, Border 2, Made In Korea Conquer Netflix’s Global Top 10 Chart – Historic Week For Indian Cinema

Indian films Dhurandhar, Border 2 and Made in Korea and comfortably holding the top three spots on Netflix’s Global Top 10 Films (Non-English) chart this week.

The three movies, interestingly from different genres, are leading the world rankings, cementing the position of Indian cinema across the globe. In the latest numbers released by the streaming giant, these movies emerged as the most-watched in several countries, making it a notable week for India. Following the recent release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, its Part 1, Dhurandhar was pulled back in trends with viewers lining up to watch the previous one. Meanwhile, JP Dutta produced war epic Border 2, and Tamil film Made In Korea are also holding top slot in the ranking.

Indian films lead Netflix’s Global Top 10 (Non-English)

The week of March 16 to March 22 saw a jump for Indian titles. While Made In Korea, starring Priyanka Mohan, Rishikanth, Park Hye-jin, and Si-hun Baek, is leading the chart at No 1, Border 2 with Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty is holding No 2. Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, led by Ranveer Singh, stood at No 3. Another Tamil movie, With Love, also picked seventh spot in Netflix’s Global Top 10 Films (Non-English). This makes it one of the most striking and strongest single-week performances for Indian films across languages on Netflix’s global platform.

Slow, steady build-up

The milestone has been a result of a long haul of homegrown cinema smashing through the global rankings. Previously, films like Saiyaara, Jolly LLB, Haq and Baramulla have also remained on the Global Top 10 chart for multiple weeks. While Inspector Zende and the Tamil film Idli Kadai have trended in more than 15 countries, Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta’s Accused emerged as the first Indian movie to break into 72 countries during its premiere week. That’s not all. Gujarati horror film Vash Level 2 also trended in the Top 10 across eight countries.

BTS paves the way

Meanwhile, the return of BTS and the reunion of its seven members, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook as a full group after almost 4 years, also marked a huge feat on Netflix. The   has garnered massive viewership. Its live broadcast garnered 18.4 million Live+1 AMA (Average Minute Audience) global viewers, surpassing the recent Oscars, Grammys, Golden Globes, Emmys, and VMAs. The concert film now stands at No 6 in the list of most-watched live events in Netflix’s history of all time.
