Dhurandhar 2 is currently a blockbuster at the box office, but behind this high octane scenes and Ranveer Singh’s swag, it’s the intense characters face offs that are sticking with fans.
One such heart stopping moment involves Hirav Mehta and the legendary Sanjay Dutt. In a recent chat, Hirav opened up about the nervousness he felt during filming a scene where he has to kill off Dutt’s character. While the film continues to smash records, already crossing the 900 crore mark globally, Hirav is finally breathing a sigh of relief, after seeing the appreciation and love for his role by the audience.
The ‘Sanju’s’ Fear

For any actor, standing across from Sanjay Dutt is an experience, but being the one to end his character’s journey is a different level of pressure. Hirav Mehta didn’t hold back in describing the anxiety he felt while shooting the climax. “I was genuinely terrified,” he revealed. “Sanjay sir has this aura, and his fans are incredibly protective. When I read the script and saw that I was the one pulling the trigger, my first thought was, ‘That’s it, the audience is going to hate me forever.'”
Hirav mentioned that he even discussed this with Aditya Dhar, wondering if the “villainy” would be too much for the fans to stomach. However, the actor noted that Sanjay Dutt himself made the process smooth, being the absolute pro that he is on set.
A Masterclass In Action
It wasn’t just about the emotional weight; the physical execution of the scene was a massive hurdle. Hirav shared that Aditya Dhar was obsessed with making the moment feel raw and earned, rather than just a typical movie death. The tension on set was palpable during the shoot, which took several retakes to nail the exact “shock factor” the director wanted.
“We wanted the audience to feel that gut-punch,” Hirav added. “Even though I was worried about the backlash, as an actor, you live for these moments.” Thankfully for him, the reaction has been more about praising his acting chops than actual hate mail. With Dhurandhar 2 galloping toward Rs 1000 crore club, Hirav Mehta has successfully transitioned from a worried co-star to one of the most talked-about performers of the year.
