In Indian culture, Dhruva Tara is considered to be the biggest symbol of unwavering determination and selfless devotion. This is the story of a five-year-old boy, who changed the lines of destiny with his stubbornness and devotion. In such a situation, let us know the mythological story of Dhruv Star.

According to mythology, there was a king named Uttanpad. The king had two queens. The names of the queens were Suniti and Suruchi. The king was fascinated by the nature and beauty of the younger queen Suruchi. In such a situation, the elder queen Suniti was ignored. One day Dhruv saw his brother Uttam sitting in his father’s lap and playing. On this Dhruv also wanted to sit in his father’s lap.

Dhruv was insulted

After this, as soon as Dhruv tried to sit on his father’s lap, Queen Suruchi pushed him away. Then Queen Suruchi became arrogant and told him that to get father’s lap and throne, you will have to do penance of Lord Vishnu and be born from my womb in the next life. These words were like arrows of fire for five year old Dhruv. After this, crying Dhruv reached his mother Suniti.

Dhruv’s mother told him that son, without the grace of God, no one gets either respect or place. Just at that moment a resolution was born in the mind of child Dhruv. At the same time Dhruv left the palace and went to the forest. On the way he met Narad Muni. Then Narad Muni wanted to test him. Narada Muni asked him to go back, but seeing his resolve was firm, he gave him the mantra – Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya.

Dhruv did rigorous penance

Dhruv started penance in Madhuvan situated on the banks of Yamuna. Gradually the level of his penance increased. His energy created havoc in all three worlds. After this, Lord Vishnu himself came to earth and asked Dhruv to ask for a boon. Dhruv said that God, I want a place from where no one can remove me nor can anyone insult me. Then Lord Vishnu gave Dhruva the highest and immovable position in the universe.

He established Dhruva as a star in the north of the sky. Saptarishi and all the constellations revolve around the pole star. Lord Vishnu said that as long as this world exists. Till then your shine will remain.
