New Delhi: Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan has firmly distanced himself from the upcoming World T20 Continent Cup, warning of legal action after discovering that his name had been included among the tournament’s participants without his knowledge or consent.
Taking to social media on Tuesday, the former Punjab Kings captain accused the organisers of using his name without permission and urged fans and media outlets not to rely on or circulate unauthorised reports regarding his involvement in the event.
“I have come across my name as a participant in the World T20 Continent Cup. My name has been used by the organisers without my knowledge or permission,” Dhawan wrote, adding that his team would take appropriate legal steps.

Dhawan was reportedly named in the Asia Warriors squad, which also included former India cricketers Rahul Sharma, Gurkeerat Singh Mann and Abhimanyu Mithun. Several Pakistani players, including Sohail Tanvir, Iftikhar Ahmed and Muhammad Imran Khan, were also listed in the side.
The development sparked widespread discussion, particularly because Dhawan had publicly voiced strong views against Pakistan during heightened India-Pakistan tensions following the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack.
