The traffic police and district administration have issued an advisory ahead of the third T20 match between India and South Africa at the Dharamshala cricket stadium on Sunday to regulate traffic movement and parking arrangements.
The match will begin at 7 PM, with stadium entry opening at 4 PM.
Shuttle Buses For Stadium
Commuters arriving from Gaggal towards Dharamshala will park their vehicles at the Dari Mela Ground via Chaitru, Sheela, and Dhagwar, from where shuttle buses will ferry them to the stadium. Return traffic from Dharamshala will be diverted through Sakoh.
Affected And Alternative Routes
1. A one-way traffic system will be implemented for vehicles travelling from Sakoh towards Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj via Kunal Pathri Road, Circuit House, Kainchi Mod, and ISBT Dharamshala.
2. Movement of commercial vehicles on the Dharamshala-McLeod Ganj route will be suspended eight hours before the match.
3. Vehicles moving from Kotwali Bazaar towards Sakoh will be allowed to pass through Red Cross Kachheri Chowk.
4. Traffic heading towards Khaniyara will be routed via Kotwali Bazaar and Fawwara Chowk.
5. Return traffic from Khaniyara will enter the city through Daranu Bridge and Shamnagar.
6. Vehicles going to McLeod Ganj will be diverted through Khada Danda Road or Cantt Road.
7. Return traffic from McLeod Ganj will follow Khada Danda Road, DC Residence Road, and Fawwara Chowk.
Parking Arrangements
1. Vehicles arriving from Yol will be parked at Zorawar Stadium, Sidhbari. Shuttle buses will operate up to HHG Chowk.
2. Traffic coming from Kangra, Matour, and Gaggal will be directed to park at the Dari Mela Ground and Achievers Hub School ground. Shuttle services will connect these points to the Education Board Chowk area.
3. Only low- and medium-speed vehicles will be permitted on the one-way route from ITI Dari Chowk to the football ground parking at Dhauladhar Colony.
4. Vehicular movement on this stretch will be restricted 20 minutes before the teams’ convoy departs, and parking will not be allowed on either side of the road.
5. Vehicles from McLeod Ganj and Dharamshala will be parked at the Mini Secretariat parking.
6. Additional parking has been arranged behind the DIG office, accessible via Hanuman Temple and the Primary Education Board office.
7. Local vehicles coming from Sakoh will be parked at the Dharamshala Police Ground through designated diversion routes.
Additional Superintendent of Police Bir Bahadur urged spectators to strictly follow the traffic plan to avoid inconvenience.
Meanwhile, the match has led to a surge in tourism. By Saturday evening, hotel occupancy in McLeod Ganj had reached 65 percent, with hotels in Dharamshala and nearby areas expected to be fully booked on Sunday. Officials anticipate around 60 percent occupancy across other parts of the district, with a large number of visitors arriving from Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.
